I am a ghostwriter and editor offering author services to writers who need either hands-on help such as ghostwriting and editing or guidance and mentoring to get their book self-published.
Want to see your book for sale on Amazon in print and available on Kindle? Call me. I can help you bring your book to publication
Based in both Lancashire, UK and Cape Town, South Africa, I have been a professional writer since the year 2000. My work usually speaks for itself, but for those who put more store by formal training, I am educated to Masters level (BA English with Politics; MA Creative Writing from Manchester University). I am also an NCTJ-trained journalist and a member of the Society of Authors.
Ghostwriting
If you don’t tell your story, somebody else will.
I have ghostwritten books on subjects ranging from a heartbreaking true story of legal and medical negligence to a memoir of a successful industrial inventor, from a business trainer’s marketing book to a rags to riches autobiography.
Tell me your story; let’s write a book together.
Editing
You’ve written your book. Now what do you do?
My first piece of advice would be to get an objective assessment of your manuscript, sometimes called a structural edit. I will review your manuscript and send you a detailed assessment, which considers issues such as plot, character, pace, setting, language, dialogue, grammar, etc.
Independent Publishing (self-publishing)
Once your manuscript is edited, your book is almost ready for publication—either by a traditional publisher or by setting yourself up as an independent publisher.
That’s where I can help.
I have brought many manuscripts to publication for authors who value the independence of self-publishing and wish to avoid the often frustrating process of pitching their book to an agent or publisher. Authors are turning to self-publishing because it puts them in control of their manuscript, in control of the process, and in possession of all the royalties.
Print on Demand (POD) has revolutionised the publishing industry in recent years—its low cost, high quality and speedy fulfilment means you can compete with traditional publishers online. Print on demand also means the minimum print order is… one! So there is no need to order hundreds of books to reduce the unit cost (once common practice), only to find you are stuck with piles of unsold copies in your spare room. When a customer orders and pays for one of your books online, the book is printed and sent directly to them. You never see it—but you do see the royalty statement that is sent to you at the end of each month.
The quality of POD printing and production is equal to any book you will see in a bookshop. In fact, many traditional publishers now use print on demand to lower their costs.

My Writing
I also find time for my own writing. My nonfiction travel books African Brew Ha-Ha, The Black Stars of Ghana and Empire Road and my novel Mandela Park are all available in paperback and on Kindle.
Cover Design
After writing your book, its cover is the second most important factor in sales. I recommend designer Ed Christiano of Deeper Blue.
